10 Month Lecturer Opportunities for Academic Year 2026-2027

We are excited to grow our faculty and invite Lecturer applications for the fall, effective September 1, 2026. 10 Month Lecturers are non-tenure track faculty and teach 30 credits for the academic year. Lecturers are required to teach, provide student academic support, provide service to the university and community and perform other related faculty responsibilities. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is also required, consistent with University guidelines. 10 Month Lecturers are responsible for performing their teaching and non-teaching responsibilities for the ten-month period of their appointment.

Employment at Kean requires working at any of our New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, which may include, but not be limited to: the main campus in Union; Kean Ocean in Toms River; Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township; Kean Jersey City; Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township; Manahawkin; Princeton; and Trenton. Location assignments will be based on operational and university needs. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global. Teaching assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses. Evening hours are required based on department needs for teaching evening/night courses and for most graduate course assignments.

Division of General Education and Interdisciplinary Studies

Liberal Arts & Critical Reading - to teach upper-division liberal arts courses to students in the B.A. in Liberal Arts (BALA) major and interdisciplinary critical reading and academic success skills courses to predominantly first-year students. The Lecturer will demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and be willing to implement high impact teaching practices for both in-person and online courses. They will work closely with non-traditional students in online courses and settings and teach first-year students in theme-based learning community cohorts. The Lecturer will participate in program assessment, academic advising and service at the division and university levels. The Lecturer will be expected to make positive contributions to the General Education (GE) program and in supporting the BALA students and program.

Qualifications - Master's degree in a liberal arts or interdisciplinary field and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. The candidate must have experience in teaching critical reading, writing or interdisciplinary courses at the college level. Experience with and/or the ability to work collaboratively with various constituencies across multiple campus locations (e.g. tutoring services and faculty in other departments) is also required. Preferably, the candidate will have experience teaching undergraduate research courses to students at various levels. A doctoral degree with a concentration in the liberal arts or an interdisciplinary field and demonstrated experience with successfully supporting and teaching first-year and fourth-year undergraduate students is preferred.

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is $66,874.27 - $75,997.39. Salaries for internal applicants who are aligned under a collective bargaining unit will be determined in accordance with contractual guidelines. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance.
