Job Summary
This position will begin Fall 2026. A primary responsibility of the position will be to deliver courses in graphic design coursework, including media design production, publication design, web design, and brand identity. The position is a 4-4 teaching load (four courses in Fall and four in Spring), with options to teach in the Summer depending on enrollment. When scheduled to teach in the graduate program in the Summer, which runs year-round, Summer teaching in the graduate program is expected for this position.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in graphic design or a similar field. Ph.D. or M.F.A. required.
  • A commitment to student-centered teaching excellence, including experience and willingness to teach in face-to-face and online asynchronous modalities.
  • Promising or established program of research with a specialization in communication, media, and technology.
  • A commitment and sensitivity to multi-faceted and interdisciplinary perspectives on communication, media, and technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience in graphic design.
  • Ability and interest to develop, teach, and assess online asynchronous courses during summer months, including coursework in the graduate program.

Housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the department offers a B.A. and B.S. in Communication and Mass Communication, as well as a 100% online M.A. in Communication. As one of the largest departments in CAS, we offer students the ability to specialize in communication, multimedia journalism, and public relations/integrated communication. Our 10 full-time faculty members are a collaborative group of passionate teacher-scholars who are productive researchers, public relations practitioners, practicing journalists, and creative professionals that serve over 11,000 students each year.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
