Position Description
The Department of Biology seeks outstanding instructors dedicated to excellence in the biological sciences for a 1-year lecturer position beginning Fall 2026. The Department has a strong and well-established record of advancing the success of women of African descent in STEM disciplines through excellence in education, mentorship, and training. We seek candidates who are committed to fostering student achievement and preparing women of African descent to excel in STEM careers and graduate study.
The successful candidate will hold a graduate degree in Biology or a closely related field and demonstrate the ability to teach 16 credit hours per academic year at the undergraduate level in one or more traditional sub-disciplines of Biology, including Population Biology, Organismal Biology, Cell Biology, and Molecular Biology.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully to curriculum development, advise and mentor undergraduate students, and engage in service to the Department and the College community.
Candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and supporting women and students from historically underrepresented groups in STEM through instruction, research, and service are especially encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biology or related area.
