Lecturer (Centre for English Language Communication)

The Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) prepares undergraduate and postgraduate students for higher education and the workplace by equipping them with academic communication, professional communication, and other 21st century skills. CELC offers courses ranging from basic academic literacy to writing, critical thinking, and workplace communication.

Aligned with NUS’ mission to educate, inspire, and transform, CELC courses are designed to meet the needs for students to be digitally fluent, collaborative, engaged with the community, and disposed towards lifelong learning.

CELC invites applications for a full-time non-tenure educator track teaching position as Lecturer.

Selection Criteria for Lecturer:

  • A doctoral degree in any academic area, preferably in applied linguistics.
  • The equivalent of two years of full-time teaching experience in higher education, with evidence of expertise in teaching academic writing, science communication, or workplace communication.
  • Experience in course design, material development, and/or assessment.
  • Evidence of reflective and scholarly teaching.
  • Familiarity with the use of IT for teaching and administrative purposes.

Applicants not meeting criteria 2-4 may be considered for Instructor.

Other Considerations:

  • Research expertise in areas such as second language writing, EAP/ESP, genre-based approaches, science communication, workplace communication, corpus methods, language testing, or digital technologies for teaching will be viewed favorably.
  • Contributions to services in ELT, academia, or higher education will be viewed favorably.
  • Scholars in the final stage of their doctoral program will be considered.
