Lecturer - Civil and Transport Engineering
About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Lecturer in Civil Engineering with a strong background in Transport Engineering who can contribute towards our overall teaching and research excellence in both general civil engineering and environmental engineering.
You will be teaching into the undergraduate and postgraduate engineering coursework programs, providing supervision to Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, and contributing to the further development of programs within the School. In addition, you are expected to undertake research in the area of transport engineering and collaborate in research with other groups within the School, the wider university and industry.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching: Develop and teach civil and transport engineering courses, contribute to curriculum innovation, coordinate delivery and assessment, maintain teaching quality, and support students in line with university policies.
- Research: Develop impactful research, collaborate on projects and funding, publish high-quality work, and communicate progress.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Support student supervision and manage staff recruitment, onboarding, performance, and development. Address workplace issues and ensure compliance with HR policies, including remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Build partnerships, provide leadership and support, manage administrative roles, and uphold UQ values.

About You
- Completed PhD in the areas of Transport Engineering, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Research in civil and transport engineering, focusing on emerging mobility, autonomous vehicles, traffic safety, and sustainable transport.
- Expert knowledge in civil and transport engineering with ability to develop innovative research programs.
- Growing profile in teaching and research within the discipline.
- Track record of publications in refereed journals and conference presentations.
- Experience in securing and managing external research funding.
- High-quality teaching across undergraduate, Honours, and postgraduate levels, including course coordination and curriculum development.
- Supervision of Honours and HDR students and contribution to internal and external service activities.
