The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) seeks individuals with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning and working environment. We value the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds. The Department of Economics is seeking a Lecturer with an MA degree or higher in Economics or a related field to fill a temporary, part-time (less than 50%), non-tenure-track teaching position beginning January 2026.
The Department seeks a lecturer to teach Economics courses, such as Principles of Macroeconomics, International Finance, International Trade, Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory, and graduate level Macroeconomic Theory. This position will teach no more than two courses per semester. Appointments will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department and subject to budgetary approval.
Lecturers are responsible for designing, developing, and delivering educational content to enhance learning outcomes and/or academic research to advance knowledge and innovation. These positions require strong communication skills, academic expertise, and a commitment to advancing knowledge through teaching and research.
What you will do:
- Serve as instructor of record for course(s) assigned.
- Deliver curriculum, design, and grade assessments and assign grades.
- Work with the department to ensure that the class meets pedagogical standards and is appropriate scaffolded in curriculum.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- M.A. or M.S. in Economics or related field.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- Ph.D. in Economics or related field.
- Experience teaching in a higher education environment in related field to teaching assignment(s).

Conditions of Employment
- Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
- This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $1,704 per credit hour (undergraduate level courses) and $1,849 per credit hour (graduate level courses).
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
