This posting will establish and maintain a pool of part-time lecturers with experience teaching Political Science courses in designated fields of the discipline, which may include specializations in areas such as Area Studies, American Political Thought, Research Methodology, Constitutional Law, Environmental Politics, Labor, Social Economy, Local Government Leadership, Community Organizing/Development, and courses within their area of expertise, for the Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver. The Center for New Directions in Politics & Policy is within the Department of Political Science and manages an applied Master's Degree and several undergraduate and graduate certificates, delivered primarily through weekend intensive in-person graduate courses. New Directions will also hire lecturers from this pool of applicants.

By submitting your application, you will become part of an applicant pool. Candidates hired from this pool will fill temporary, non-tenure track positions and will teach no more than two courses per semester. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will be made semester-by-semester, depending on the needs of the department and subject to budgetary approval. Therefore, this posting does not necessarily reflect a current open position. The Department of Political Science will contact you if there is an opening that suits your qualifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in political Science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience
  • PhD or ABD in Political Science

  • Ability to effectively listen and share relevant information.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $1,615 per credit hour (lower division), $1,645 per credit hour (upper division), or $1,808 per credit hour (graduate level).

The above salary range (*or hiring range*) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
