About the Role:
This role contributes to high-quality teaching and impactful research in the field of Construction Management, with the balance between these activities determined through the Career and Performance Planning (PCP) process. The position supports the delivery and ongoing development of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, ensuring curriculum relevance to contemporary construction industry practice and research advancements.
The incumbent is expected to develop a growing profile in teaching excellence, research performance, and service within the discipline of Construction Management. This includes contributing to curriculum innovation, engaging with industry stakeholders where appropriate, and advancing scholarly activity aligned with the built environment disciplines.
The role may also involve coordinating units, supervising higher degree by research students, and providing academic leadership within the Construction Management program.
Some responsibilities will include: Teaching
- Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Coordinate units and contribute to curriculum design and innovation.
- Assess student learning and provide effective supervision of honours and coursework students.
- Maintain contemporary knowledge of the discipline and contribute to teaching-related initiatives and grant activity.
Research
- Develop and maintain a coherent research program in the discipline.
- Publish in high-quality outlets and disseminate research through conferences and seminars.
- Contribute to competitive research funding applications.
- Supervise research higher degree students, as appropriate.
Service and Leadership
- Contribute to academic service, collegial governance, and professional engagement.
- Support a collaborative and inclusive working environment aligned with the University’s values.
Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:
- A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated high-level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
- Industry experience in the field of Construction Management in residential, commercial, industrial, or heavy/civil construction. On-site construction experience is a priority for a candidate.
- An established record of research outputs/creative works in high-quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
- A history of successful competitive grant applications.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
- Demonstrated experience/capacity to undertake unit coordination role.
- Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
