Job Summary

The Department of Biology at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for Lecturer- Biology supporting laboratory sections of Human Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) to begin September 16, 2026. There are two (2) openings.

This year-long sequence comprises three courses, BIOL 232, 233, & 234 (total of 15 credits, 5 credits per quarter), which is required for most health science majors. In collaboration with the Senior Lecturer in Biology, Lecturers will organize and oversee laboratory sections and supervise teaching assistants.

The typical workload for this position is 45 credits per academic year.

The Department of Biology includes a variety of faculty and over 350 undergraduate majors and Masters-level graduate students focusing on evolutionary, ecological, molecular, physiological, microbial, and health sciences. Faculty members collaborate with the local medical community, resource management agencies, industry, and private businesses to provide educational and research opportunities for our students. Students participating in this Human Anatomy and Physiology sequence are preparing for various degrees offered by EWU’s College of Health Science and Public Health.

The salary for this position is $56,667. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement. Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biology or closely related field relevant to Human A&P
  • Coursework in Human A&P
  • Experience in dissection of human cadavers
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biology or closely related field relevant to Human A&P
  • Demonstrated effective teaching experience in biology classes related to Human A&P
  • Commitment to quality teaching and student development
  • Supervision of other employees within a teaching environment or other environment
  • Evidence of ability to engage in productive, respectful, collegial relationships with students, faculty and staff

Job Duties

  • Coordinate multiple laboratory sections
  • Supervise teaching assistants
  • Collaborate with the Senior Lecturer on course content, delivery, and assessment
  • Engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning
  • Meet all scheduled classes
  • Plan, organize and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
  • Schedule and attend office hours
  • Turn in grades according to established deadlines
