Lecturer - Department of Statistics - College of Computing, Data Science and Society
Position Overview
The Department of Statistics at UC Berkeley invites applications for qualified temporary instructors to teach various courses. Positions vary from semester to semester, including summer sessions, based on departmental needs.
Salary Range: The full-time salary range is $70,977 to $199,722. Starting salary is based on highest degree, teaching experience, industry experience, and equity. For TSP positions, the rate is $1,455.90 to $3,440 per bootcamp taught.
Percent Time: 11% to 100%.
Anticipated Start: Applications are reviewed periodically; typically for Fall and Summer in December, and for Spring in August-September. TSP starts in summer 2026 or future semesters.

- Statistics 133: Concepts in Computing with Data
- Statistics 134: Concepts of Probability
- Statistics 135: Concepts of Statistics
- Statistics 150: Stochastic Processes
- Statistics 151A: Linear Modeling: Theory and Applications
- Statistics 153: Time Series
- Statistics 154: Modern Statistical Prediction and Machine Learning
- Statistics 155: Game Theory
- Statistics 159: Reproducible and Collaborative Statistical Data Science
General Duties
Duties include developing syllabi, lecturing, creating assignments, grading exams, supervising teaching assistants, holding office hours, and maintaining a course website. Other duties may be assigned by the Chair.
TSP appointments teach the Summer Preparation Bootcamp for the Master of Arts in Statistics program, typically in a 3-week format in late July and early August.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: Completion of a Master's degree or equivalent at the time of hire.
Additional Qualifications: Evidence of college-level instructional experience at the time of start.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field, and documented experience teaching Statistics or a related field at the college level.
