About the role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Lecturer (Education) in Neuroscience to contribute to teaching and student experience across postgraduate programmes within Psychological Medicine at the IoPPN. The postholder will lead and deliver core neuroscience modules on the MSc Clinical Neuropsychiatry and MSc Clinical Psychotherapy programmes, and contribute to project supervision and wider educational activities across related MSc programmes.
This role is on the Academic Education pathway, with approximately 80% of time dedicated to teaching, assessment, curriculum development, student support and related administration, and 20% to research and educational scholarship. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative, inclusive, research-led teaching, support high-quality assurance processes, act as a personal tutor, and play an active role in enhancing student welfare and experience.
You will be offered a full-time position on an indefinite contract.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- PhD in area relevant to the neuroscience teaching contained within the MSc Clinical Neuropsychiatry and MSc Clinical Psychotherapy
- Experience of module leadership or equivalent
- Experience of designing and delivering excellent teaching and assessment for postgraduate students, in person and/or online
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, to convey conceptual and complex ideas and information
- Ability to conduct high quality research evidenced, for example, by high-quality publications, presentation of research in national and/or international fora
- Evidence of high self-motivation and ability to organize, plan and prioritize workload, alongside good administrative skills, including excellent IT skills and experience with virtual learning environments (e.g., Moodle)
- Skills in research design relevant for field
- Experience of supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate research projects
Desirable criteria
- Higher Education teaching qualification or Advance HE Fellowship
- Understanding of the UK Higher Education sector
- Experience providing pastoral support to students
- Experience teaching neuroscience to diverse student cohorts
