The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Teaching and Leadership academic in Biology and Environmental Sciences to contribute to teaching, curriculum development, and governance within the School of Natural Sciences.
This role provides the opportunity to deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, engage meaningfully with students, and contribute to the School’s teaching mission in environmental and biological sciences. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of biology, ecology, environmental science, and climate change adaptation, alongside expertise in curriculum design, teaching innovation, and course planning. They will also contribute to academic governance processes, including curriculum review, accreditation, and quality assurance, while supporting and mentoring academic teaching teams.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in biology and environmental sciences.
Design, develop, and review curriculum and units in line with Faculty and University strategies, ensuring pedagogical quality and innovation.
Contribute to course planning, academic governance, and quality assurance, including assessment moderation and results ratification.
Support program-level curriculum reform, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor academic and sessional teaching staff and foster a positive learning and teaching culture.
Participate actively in School and Faculty education committees and working groups.
Contribute to teaching workload planning
Engage students through inclusive, student-centred, and experiential learning approaches.
Supervise HDR and postgraduate research students, as appropriate.
Contribute to disciplinary scholarship and maintain professional engagement with external partners.
Represent the School at University and external education events.
About You
You are an experienced and collaborative academic with a strong record of leadership in teaching, curriculum design, and academic governance within biology and environmental sciences. You bring demonstrated expertise in course planning, quality assurance, and program-level curriculum reform, along with the ability to mentor and support academic and sessional teaching staff. With excellent organisational and communication skills, you contribute positively to School and Faculty committees, workload planning, and learning and teaching culture, while maintaining active engagement in disciplinary scholarship, HDR supervision, and external partnerships that enhance student learning and impact.

Demonstrated experience in course planning, academic governance, and quality assurance processes, including assessment design and moderation.
Demonstrated leadership, team management, and collaboration skills, including the ability to coordinate teaching teams, mentor academic and sessional staff, and contribute effectively to committees.
Evidence of disciplinary scholarship and the capacity to supervise postgraduate and HDR students, appropriate to career stage.
