Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess at minimum, from a recognized university:
- Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Paediatrics
- OR equivalent postgraduate qualification
Candidates should also possess:
- Ideally at least four (4) years clinical experience (after graduation) from MBBS or equivalent
- Proficiency in clinical audit and research skills
- Evidence of prior success in clinical decision making and communication skills
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Degree or Certificate in Medical Education
- A good record of research and publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals
- Ideally at least two (2) years’ postgraduate teaching experience
- Ideally at least two (2) years’ clinical experience at consultant level
- Successful award of grant as a Principal Investigator (PI) or member of a team
The following would be considered assets:
- Subspecialty training in Paediatrics
- Certificate in university teaching and learning
- Experience in providing subspecialty service in Paediatrics
Candidates must be registered or able to be registered as a specialist in Paediatrics with the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago (MBTT).
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching of Child Health for the MBBS degree and the DM Paediatrics programmes via online and face to face modes
- Providing work-based clinical supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Supervising postgraduate research projects
- Managing a Clinical Service
- Mentoring students
Personal Attributes

Candidates should also:
- Uphold the highest standards of professional practice and behaviour and medical ethics
- Have strong interest in mentoring staff
- Be able to use online pedagogical platforms such as Zoom
- Be able to use teaching aids such as PowerPoint presentations
