The University of the West of Scotland is seeking a dynamic academic with a relevant undergraduate degree and a doctoral qualification (or near completion) to join our team in the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences to work in partnership with Wuxi Taihu University. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering an excellent, research-informed student experience through innovative teaching, curriculum design, and assessment practices. They will be well-versed in contemporary pedagogies, including co-creation and active learning, and demonstrate expertise in digital education and online learning environments. A commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and programme development is essential, alongside a strong track record of positive educational practice and professional standards.
The role involves designing and delivering high-quality teaching across a range of Computing subjects such as Software Engineering, Data Science, Network Security, and Cloud Computing. Responsibilities include module coordination, assessment, programme development, and participation in quality assurance initiatives. The postholder will also engage in original research, publish in high-impact journals, supervise research students, and contribute to enterprise activities including CPD and consultancy. The Scotland Academy and the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) partnership offer the following programs: BSc (Hons) in Cyber Security, BEng (Hons) in Engineering Management, BSc (Hons) in Web and Mobile Development. The post holder will reside in China teaching in the Scotland Academy on behalf of the University of the West of Scotland.
The successful candidate should have: An undergraduate qualification in a Computing, Computer Science, Computer Networking, Business Technology or related subject area; A PhD in a relevant area; Evidence of experience of learning, teaching and assessment in higher education; Evidence of knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogies; Evidence of published research profile commensurate with career stage; Evidence of experience in module/programme administration; Evidence of experience in designing and delivering co-creative and active learning and assessment; Evidence of familiarity with online learning environments and the principles of digital education.

Founded in 2002, the university was approved as a master's degree granting project construction unit in 2017 from Jiangnan University, a century-old "double first-class" university. Remuneration Package: The salary range for the role is £50,253 – £56,535, with initial placement likely to be at the starting point of the scale, subject to experience. £5,000 International Teaching Payment granted on completion of a successful probation. Expatriate benefits will be available to eligible applicants, such as a relocation allowance, housing allowance, medical insurance, medical allowance, allowance for personal laptop use. Additional Benefits include: Annual Holiday Allowance: 47 days of annual leave, including public holidays; Pension Provision: UWS will contribute 8% of annual salary to employee’s personal pension; Development Opportunities: Professional and career development opportunities.
