The Opportunity
We’re seeking passionate, forward-thinking educators and researchers to help shape the next generation of teachers and scholars. As a disciplinary expert in areas such as early childhood, HPE, technology, professional experience, English and literacy, Maths and numeracy, the Arts, HASS, psychology or science, you will design, deliver and lead engaging programs across teacher education and tertiary pathways, on campus and online. With a strong track record in teaching and research, you’ll bring energy, creativity and a deep understanding of curriculum and contemporary pedagogy to create exceptional learning experiences.
You’ll also grow and sustain a vibrant research profile, collaborating to build impactful projects, secure funding and supervise higher degree research candidates. We’re looking for collegial and innovative academics ready to contribute to emerging priorities within the School, including initiatives aligned with the Education and Learning Futures research cluster and the Indigenous and Transcultural Research Centre. You will:
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning through contemporary pedagogy, curriculum innovation, technology-enhanced delivery and meaningful student engagement;
- Drive impactful research by developing a clear research agenda, securing funding, publishing outcomes and supervising Higher Degree by Research candidates;
- Foster strong partnerships and external engagement that apply disciplinary expertise to regional, national and international communities;
- Contribute to University service and strategic priorities through academic leadership, collaboration and professional engagement beyond teaching and research; and
- Promote a positive, inclusive and safe academic environment while undertaking additional duties aligned with evolving teaching and research needs.
About you:
You are a skilled and reflective higher education professional with a strong track record in teaching and student engagement. You are experienced in designing and delivering curricula, contributing to research, and collaborating effectively with colleagues and students. Committed to professional growth, collegiality, and fostering a positive academic environment, you continuously seek opportunities to develop your skills and make a meaningful impact within your institution.
You will possess:
- Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
- Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by: student feedback on teaching using valid instrument/s, peer review and/or student outcomes, and the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching
- Evidence of research experience, including for example, refereed publications; participation in research teams; co-supervision of candidates for honours and higher degrees by research;
- Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice;
- Strong personal qualities and collegial approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students; and
- Evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.
Desirable
- Experience undertaking academic administrative functions, e.g. course coordination, within a University.
