"Lecturer in English (Teaching & Scholarship)"

About the Role

The Department of English, within the School of the Arts is looking to appoint a Lecturer in English (Teaching and Scholarship).

Duties will include convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. We are looking for someone with expertise in contemporary literature, with experience teaching creative writing, to contribute to our English and English with Creative Writing degree programmes. Possible modules include ESH124 Poetry, ESH126 London Global, ESH295 London Walking the City and ESH4001 Introduction to Creative Writing.

This is a two-year fixed-term role from 01 September 2026 until 31 August 2028 available as a Leverhulme-funded replacement post. The salary will be Grade 5, £51,755 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

About You

You will hold a PhD in English or have an equivalent professional qualification, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues, good organisational and communicative skills are also essential.
