Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in Human Factors Psychology in Te Kura Mahi ā-Hirikapo | School of Psychology, Speech and Hearing.

Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

The appointee will be an ambitious early-career academic with a developing record of achievement in research and teaching who will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within UC Psychology’s innovative new Bachelor of Psychological Science programme.

The role will involve the development and delivery of courses within this programme, with a focus on contemporary human factors psychology. It will also include developing and/or extending a strong, externally funded research programme, as well as contributing to service within the School (including our Industrial-Organisational Psychology programme), Faculty, and/or University.

The appointee will also be expected to supervise Honours, Master’s, and PhD students, and to develop and maintain links with relevant community organisations, professional bodies, and colleagues both nationally and internationally.

Mōu | Who You Are

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A PhD in Psychology (or a closely aligned discipline)
  • An emerging research record in Human Factors Psychology (or aligned area), including publications in high-quality international journals
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Human Factors Psychology at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels
  • Evidence of (or commitment to) professional engagement with Human Factors professional communities
  • Demonstrate an understanding of bicultural and multicultural issues in Aotearoa New Zealand’s society, including a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi, and display a willingness to engage professionally with equity and diversity initiatives.

In addition, it would be an advantage if you also had:

  • Postdoctoral research or equivalent professional experience
  • Evidence of success in securing external research funding
  • Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate research students (Honours, Master’s, and/or PhD)
  • Experience in curriculum design, development and delivery for both on-campus and online courses
  • Evidence of professional engagement with Human Factors professional communities
  • Experience incorporating perspectives of Māori, Pacific Peoples’, and underrepresented groups into course content and teaching practice.

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Lecturer $94,181 p.a. - $113,616 p.a.
