About the Position:
The College of Business, Creative Arts, Law and Social Sciences at Flinders University is seeking a Lecturer in Government to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching in International Relations and Political Science. This Teaching Specialist (Academic) position focuses on teaching and teaching-related activities, including the preparation and delivery of engaging learning experiences, curriculum development and the continuous improvement of university-level education.
In this position, you will:
- Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate topics in International Relations and Political Science, including lectures, tutorials, workshops and student assessment.
- Contribute to curriculum design, topic coordination and the ongoing evaluation and enhancement of course materials and learning experiences.
- Support student success through academic advice, mentoring and the use of innovative teaching approaches and learning technologies.
- Contribute to College and University service through participation in committees, professional engagement and community activities.
About You
You are a passionate and student-focused educator with expertise in International Relations and/or Political Science and experience teaching in higher education. You are committed to delivering engaging learning experiences and supporting diverse student cohorts to succeed. You are also interested in contributing to curriculum development and innovative teaching practices that enhance the quality of university education.
You will demonstrate:
- A PhD in International Relations, Political Science, or a closely related discipline
- Experience teaching at the tertiary level in International Relations and/or Political Science
- A strong student-centred approach to teaching and learning
- Experience using innovative teaching approaches or educational technologies to support student success
Desirable experience includes:
- Teaching in critical international relations studies
- Experience in Indigenous Australian studies
- Teaching experience across both undergraduate and postgraduate cohorts
