"Lecturer in Japanese"

We are seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Japanese Studies to contribute to teaching, research, and community engagement within our Japanese Studies program. In this role, you will conduct field-leading research, publish, and secure research funding in Japanese Studies, with expertise in areas such as linguistics, history, cultural studies, or anthropology. Applicants with research spanning Japan and Korea are especially encouraged to apply.

You will coordinate, teach, and develop course material, including Japanese as a second or heritage language, and may contribute to the Korean Studies program. Additionally, you will supervise HDR projects, engage with external stakeholders, and support the program’s administrative functions.

As the successful candidate, you will excel in collaborative and independent work, with a strong publication record in top-tier journals and experience securing research funding. You will have a proven ability to supervise postgraduate students and contribute to high-quality research. With extensive experience teaching Japanese as a second or heritage language at the tertiary level, you will ideally also have expertise in Korean Studies. Strong proficiency in Japanese and English is desirable, along with a passion for research, teaching, and engaging students in a dynamic learning environment.
