Lecturer in Mathematics

Position Description

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Lecturer in Mathematics position with teaching responsibilities based at the Zayed Military University (ZMU) campus.

Key Accountabilities

Teaching

• Design and deliver undergraduate Mathematics courses, primarily within the Foundation Year.
• Develop engaging teaching materials, assessments and learning activities that foster critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and students’ ability to engage in autonomous learning.

Student Support and Academic Advising

• Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students.
• Support the development of students’ analytical skills.

Academic and Administrative Service

• Participate in departmental and university service activities.
• Contribute to program development, curriculum review, and academic governance where appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s Degree/PhD Degree preferred in Mathematics or Engineering or any other relevant discipline from an accredited higher education institute.
• Teaching experience in Mathematics in a senior secondary/high school setting. Teaching experience within the higher education sector is highly desirable.
• Professional proficiency in English is mandatory. IELTS certification or equivalent qualification is an asset.
• Strong commitment to effective and student-centred teaching practices.
• Readiness and capacity to supervise and mentor students.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic environment.
• Knowledge of Arabic and/or French is considered an asset.
• Advanced pedagogical skills and proficiency in educational technologies and online learning platforms are considered an asset.
