Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to recruit a Lecturer to undertake high-quality research and teaching. We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary research expertise in areas such as mechatronics and robotics, systems with embedded AI intelligence, autonomous systems, engineering and design of integrated systems, or digital systems and control.

These research areas align with Faculty research centres, including IAAPS, a world-leading centre supporting the transport industry in transitioning to net zero. Teaching will support MEng undergraduate degree programmes and new MSc programmes. Our programmes have an outstanding reputation based on industry-linked teaching, rigorous standards, placements, and graduate employability. You will also supervise students on individual and group projects involving research or design activities.

We are one of the leading Mechanical Engineering Departments in the UK, providing a progressive academic environment. The University of Bath is ranked 132nd in the QS World University Rankings 2026. You will benefit from a supportive, collaborative Department and Faculty system, with opportunities for career development and leadership roles.

About the Department

About you

You should publish high-quality research, supervise postgraduate students, and attract external research funding. Engage with Faculty-wide centres on energy, Net Zero, biomedical engineering, sustainability, and climate change.

As a kind and culturally aware leader, you will foster an inclusive environment and encourage adaptability.

Applicants must submit: a 4-page CV and a 4-page research proposal outline, to be discussed at interview.
