As a Lecturer in Small Animal Clinical Studies (Surgery), you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of veterinary education at the University of Melbourne. You'll deliver excellence in teaching across the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programme, focusing on small animal surgery. This position offers you the opportunity to combine your clinical expertise with innovative teaching methods, working alongside industry partners to provide students with real-world experience and ensure the highest standards of patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Deliver Innovative Clinical Education: Provide cutting-edge teaching in small animal surgery across all years of the DVM programme, including lectures, practical demonstrations, and clinical rotations.
  • Ensure Clinical Excellence: Deliver high-quality veterinary services, working closely with partners like Greencross Veterinary Hospital to maintain a 'One Team' approach to patient care and student learning.
  • Develop Curriculum and Assessment: Contribute to the design of integrated courses and innovative assessment methods, ensuring students acquire essential clinical competencies.
  • Mentor and Support Students: Act as a role model for veterinary students, providing guidance and ensuring their well-being throughout their educational journey.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a passionate veterinary educator with expertise in small animal surgery, committed to delivering innovative clinical teaching while maintaining excellence in patient care and fostering strong industry partnerships.
You must:
  • Hold a veterinary degree and be eligible for registration as a Veterinary Practitioner in Victoria.
You may also:
  • Possess (or be progressing towards) an intermediate level post-graduate qualification in surgery, such as Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.
  • Have experience in delivering high-quality clinical teaching in a tertiary education setting.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective student mentoring and client interactions.
  • Show a commitment to ongoing professional development and scholarly activities in veterinary education.
