The administrative duties of the position include assisting the Coordinator of Music Education in the first year and assuming the role of Coordinator of Music Education in the second year. Coordination includes collaborating with colleagues to oversee the music education curriculum; advising music education students (beginning in the second year); assisting in recruiting prospective students; representing music education as a program within the Office of Teacher Education and Certification; representing the College in PMEA; managing the music education budget and equipment inventory; co-advising the College’s chapter of CNAfME; coordinating field experiences; and placing and coordinating music student teachers.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence in undergraduate teaching and a proven understanding of the ideals and goals of a liberal arts education. Successful experience teaching music at the elementary and/or secondary level in a United States public school setting is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate in their pedagogical practices how they cultivate a sense of belonging amongst students. A completed doctorate in a relevant field is preferred; a master’s degree is required.
