Lecturer
Position Overview
The Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks to fill a temporary associated faculty position (non-tenure track) for the 2025 Autumn Semester. The incumbent will teach courses as assigned, hold office hours, grade assignments, and submit grades, and related pedagogical activities.
Performance Objectives
- Ensure curriculum implementation and course preparation in accordance with department standards.
- Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning.
- Prepare homework and exams; evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning.
- Meet scheduled classes and office hours in accordance with university policy.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress; submit final grade rosters in accordance with established university deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Masters degree in physics or related field. Evidence of expertise in effective teaching at the undergraduate level.

Department Information
The Department of Physics at The Ohio State University is one of the university's largest and most diverse departments. As a department in the division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences in the College of the Arts and Sciences, the Department of Physics occupies the Physics Research Building as well as instructional and advising space in Smith Laboratory, the former home of the department. The department is the home to multiple internationally renowned centers and research facilities. The department currently has 50 faculty and approximately 60 postdoctoral researchers and research scientists, 210 graduate students, and 430 undergraduate majors.
