About the Role

Swinburne University of Technology is seeking an outstanding academic to join the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science (CFBS) as either a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Forensic Psychology.

CFBS is Australasia’s leading centre for excellence in forensic mental health and forensic behavioural science research, teaching and practice development. Our multidisciplinary community brings together academics, clinicians and researchers across psychology, psychiatry, nursing, social work, law, occupational therapy and epidemiology.

A defining strength of the Centre is our ability to translate academic and clinical expertise into real world impact, working closely with partners across the forensic mental health, youth justice and criminal justice sectors.

Depending on the level of appointment, you will contribute to teaching, research, and service within CFBS and the University. You will deliver high quality, engaging teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs in Clinical Forensic Psychology and Forensic Behavioural Science. We encourage innovative and applied teaching, incorporating case studies, simulations, and blended learning.

You will also play an active role in strengthening the Centre’s research profile, collaborating with other members of the CFBS to support the research endeavours of staff and students and help us deliver impactful research and build meaningful partnerships with industry and justice sector stakeholders.

As a Lecturer (Level B), you will:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and coordinate units across undergraduate and postgraduate programs
  • Mentor and support students academic progression
  • Contribute to collaborative research projects with other members of CFBS
  • Contribute to Centre and School service and administration

As a Senior Lecturer (Level C), you will also:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and coordinate units across undergraduate and postgraduate programs
  • Develop and lead an independent research program
  • Publish in high-quality journals
  • Contribute to the supervision of Honours, Masters and doctoral students
  • Build strong collaborations with industry, community and justice-sector partners
  • Contribute to collaborative research projects with other members of CFBS
  • Contribute to Centre and School service and administration

About You

To be successful, you will bring a strong commitment to teaching excellence, impactful research and collaborative engagement.

For Lecturer (Level B), you will have:

  • A doctoral qualification in psychology or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching and curriculum development
  • Commitment to innovative and student-centred learning approaches
  • An emerging research track record with publications in relevant academic journals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Industry or consulting experience and/or connections with relevant organisations is desirable

For Senior Lecturer (Level C), you will have:

  • A doctoral qualification in psychology
  • Training and practical experience as a clinical and/or forensic psychologist, with eligibility for professional endorsement
  • A strong research track record with publications in forensic mental health, correctional psychology or forensic behavioural science
  • Experience supervising Honours and postgraduate research students
  • Demonstrated success in tertiary teaching and program coordination
  • Ability to build partnerships with industry, government or community organisations
  • Capacity to develop and lead research initiatives and attract external funding
