The Role

Forward-looking, focused, and innovative — Kingston University is a place where you can thrive. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Adult Nursing academic team at Kingston University as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.

Join our dynamic and forward-thinking School, where you will play a key role in enhancing nursing practice and strengthening the reputation of the School of Nursing, Allied and Public Health in the field of adult nursing care across all domains of practice. Articulate and well-respected, you will teach across the department and inspire our students with your passion for education. A keen interest in developing educational practice is essential, and an interest in research or education is advantageous.

In addition to contributing to the pastoral care of students, you will be encouraged and supported to pursue your interests in research, enterprise, or professional practice. Our School celebrates equality, diversity, and inclusivity, and we welcome applications from individuals who reflect the full spectrum of our community.

The Person

You will be a registered adult nurse with the NMC, educated to at least degree level, and have experience in caring for adult patients. Enthusiastic, and highly motivated, you are passionate about teaching and eager to share your skills and expertise with the future nursing workforce.

A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. We welcome applicants currently working in clinical practice who are interested in gaining experience in academia. The faculty supports new members of staff to gain appropriate qualifications and are keen to support ongoing academic and professional development. Secondments will also be considered.

Further Information

This is a part-time (22.20 hours per week), permanent position with a starting salary of £27,015 per annum (60% pro rata to £45,025 per annum) for Lecturer and £30,096 per annum (60% pro rata to £50,160 per annum) for Senior Lecturer, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Interviews are expected to take place on Wednesday, 21 January 2026.

For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Michelle Carter, Head of Department of Adult Nursing and Allied Health.

Bring your true self, expertise, and passion to Kingston where we are continuing to strive to build a university where authentic inclusion and belonging is at its heart. Every one of our staff and students’ identities, backgrounds and diverse experiences makes us who we are - so harness and embrace yours by applying today. We welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities and those with disabilities.

We are a place-based organisation, proud of our location in Kingston and the civic role we play in our community. Our campuses inspire collaborative, innovative and creative communities. Being present on campus is important to us because it helps us to create a sense of belonging for both our staff and students. Therefore, staff are expected to be on campus for the majority of their working week.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required, this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
