The Waikato Management School invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Economics, with a specialisation in macroeconomics. Based at our Hamilton campus, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a strong research profile while contributing to high-quality teaching and postgraduate supervision in a collegial, research-active environment.
You will conduct and publish high-quality, impactful research in your specialist area, actively engaging with colleagues across the Division and the wider academic community nationally and internationally. You will teach across undergraduate and postgraduate macroeconomics papers and supervise Master’s and PhD students, supporting them through all stages of their research journeys
This is a full-time (37.5 hours a week) continuing position. Salary will be in the range of $92,603 to $148,799 per year, dependent on the skills, experience, and academic standing. Appointment level (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and research track record.

You will have a PhD (or be near to completion) in Economics, or a closely related subject with demonstrated expertise in macroeconomics. You will apply your teaching skills, including the ability to lecture to large classes as well as conducting small group seminars and tutorials effectively.
Evidence of, or clear potential for, a strong research programme with outputs relevant to high-quality journals. The ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including large lectures and small-group teaching. A commitment to research-informed and innovative teaching, delivered both face-to-face and online.
The capability and enthusiasm to supervise postgraduate research students, contributing to a supportive and inclusive research culture. At Senior Lecturer level, you will also demonstrate academic leadership, an established publication record, and experience in postgraduate supervision.
