About the opportunity

The University of Sydney welcomes applications for Education Focused Academics (Sydney Horizon Educators) in the academic disciplines outlined below. With the introduction of the new University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2023-26, the University has committed to establishing and advertising new continuing education-focused academic positions across the Sydney Law School.

Successful candidates will join the Sydney Horizon Educators cohort. By offering these education-focused roles, the University aims to attract and retain talented educators with a passion for educational practice and innovation, and research capability.

You will contribute to teaching and learning design, delivery, and evaluation in your specialized field, while also contributing to research in relation to your discipline and/or educational practice. Successful candidates will dedicate 70% to teaching and teaching-related activities, 20% to research, and 10% to governance, leadership, and engagement.

Key responsibilities include undertaking a leadership role in educational innovation, curriculum design, delivering high-quality teaching, developing teaching materials, maintaining safety requirements, contributing to knowledge through research, and engaging in governance work.

Selection Criteria

A PhD in Law or related field with a focus on legal education, demonstrated excellence in teaching, a record of curriculum innovation, evidence of educational leadership, and engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

About you

Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant field, experience in assessment and learning design, a track record of high-quality research, and the ability to engage students effectively. Senior Lecturers and Associate Professors require additional demonstrated leadership and research achievements.
