Position Details

About the Role:

Flinders University’s College of Science and Engineering is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative academic to join our team as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Engineering (Engineering Practice). This Teaching Specialist (Academic) position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, student-centred education across our suite of Engineering topics, with a particular focus on professional skills, student placements, and coordination of coursework project topics.

As a Teaching Specialist, you will:

  • Create, coordinate and deliver inspiring teaching informed by contemporary educational practice.
  • Lead and contribute to curriculum development, topic and course coordination, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Support internal and external accreditation activities.

This position is open to international and interstate candidates. Visa and relocation support is available.

About You:

You are a motivated and collaborative educator who brings experience in engineering education and a passion for supporting student success. You thrive in a collegial, multi-disciplinary environment and enjoy leading teaching initiatives, embracing innovation, and building strong relationships with students, staff and industry partners.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a PhD or EdD, or equivalent qualification in an area of engineering relevant to the education programs of the College. Tertiary qualifications in Education is desirable.
  • Evidence of successful teaching, training, mentoring, or supervision of students.
  • Experience in coordinating WIL placements or project topics. Strong connections to industry partners are desirable.
  • Experience in curriculum review processes and accreditation requirements within higher education.
  • For Level C: Demonstrated leadership in contributing to professional activities at a national or international level (e.g., course coordination, major award programs, accreditation, or quality assurance processes).
