About Us

The KCL & GSTT PET Centre is part of King's College London's Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and performs both clinical and research PET imaging studies. As part of the UK National Total Body PET Imaging Platform (npip.org.uk), two identical Siemens Total Body PET Scanners have recently been installed at St Thomas’ to complement further PET-CT, PET-MRI, nuclear medicine and radiotracer production facilities. We are embarking on an extensive research programme that will include hosting projects from clinical, academic and industry researchers from within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, the wider Trust and University and across the UK and internationally.

About The Role

We are looking for an exceptional lecturer/senior lecturer to develop and lead an ambitious programme of research in the field of PET Physics, with expertise and interest in PET technology, methodology and data analysis. This will involve collaborating with other PET experts in the School, including fellow academics and clinicians as well as medical physicists and clinical scientists working in the PET Centre. The post holder will be expected to build a research program that takes advantage of the Total Body PET scanners and other PET Centre facilities in tandem with building collaborations with the Research Department of Imaging Chemistry & Biology working on novel isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals and other clinical and scientific collaborators.

This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

Lecturer level

  • PhD in relevant field or first degree in relevant field and extensive relevant experience
  • Track record of independent research in one or more aspects of PET Physics
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the specified fields of expertise
  • Experience of grant writing and track record of successful research funding commensurate with opportunity/career stage
  • Experience of writing and publishing papers
  • Experience teaching and lecturing at undergraduate/postgraduate level
  • Team player with commitment to both lead and assist in research projects as appropriate

Desirable criteria

  • Relevant postgraduate certificate in higher education or equivalent
  • Established network of collaborations in interdisciplinary research
  • Experience supervising junior researchers
  • Experience teaching and lecturing at undergraduate/postgraduate level
  • Membership of a professional body

Senior Lecturer level

  • PhD in relevant field or first degree in relevant field and extensive relevant experience
  • Excellent track record of independent research in one or more aspects of PET Physics
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the specified fields of expertise
  • Experience supervising junior researchers
  • Experience of grant writing and track record of successful research funding
  • Excellent record of writing and publishing papers in high profile journals and presenting at international conferences
  • Experience in designing and delivering courses at undergraduate/postgraduate level
  • Experience of effective PhD supervision, preferably as primary supervisor

Desirable criteria

  • Relevant postgraduate certificate in higher education or equivalent
  • Established network of collaborations in interdisciplinary research

Grade and Salary: Grade 7 £53,149 – 62,422 – Grade 8 £64,139 – 73,529 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance
