The Department of Psychological Medicine at the Dunedin School of Medicine, in association with Health New Zealand - Southern, seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Psychological Medicine. This position offers an opportunity for a clinical academic to establish themselves in one of the leading medical schools in Australasia.
The appointee will provide leadership in teaching and research in psychological medicine while supporting inpatient and outpatient services for psychiatry patients in the Otago and Southland regions. Research opportunities exist for collaboration with other departments such as Anatomy, Pathology, and Preventive and Social Medicine.
Academic Component (0.5 FTE)
The successful applicant will be based in the Department of Psychological Medicine and appointed as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer based on qualifications and experience. Responsibilities include teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and engaging in an independent research program. Opportunities for laboratory and clinically-based research are available.
Clinical Component (0.5 FTE)
Health New Zealand - Southern provides services to diverse communities. The appointee will participate in a shared roster and after-hours on-call duties, with clinical duties forming 50% of weekly responsibilities. This includes supporting outpatient psychiatry clinics in Dunedin, with potential work across Southland and Queenstown districts via telehealth or outreach.
The candidate must have specialist qualifications in Psychiatry and be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
