Job Description

Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

You will undertake original research in molecular physiology, preferably with a focus on mammals. You will also contribute to the teaching, postgraduate supervision and administrative requirements of the School within the Biomedical, Molecular and Cellular Biology Team. You will be comfortable teaching molecular physiology to undergraduate to masters level students. For more information about us please see our website Te Aka Mātuatua.

The current salary for Lecturer is in the range of $92,603 to $110,407, and Senior Lecturer Range 1 is $113,428 to $132,281. This is a full-time continuing role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

To be successful in this role, you will bring many of the following skills and experiences:

• PhD in a relevant discipline
• A track record of high-quality research publications
• Demonstrated teaching skills at tertiary level, including a commitment to effective student learning and to teaching innovation
• Ability to contribute to the graduate and postgraduate programme including the supervision of Honours, Masters and PhD students
• Ability to attract research funding
• Experience in animal facilities, including animal ethics requirements
• A proven ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
• Awareness of the value of Mātauranga Māori in science, and the value of Kaupapa Māori approaches to teaching

You will be a proactive and self-motivated professional who works effectively as part of a team and builds positive, respectful relationships with staff and students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
