About us

QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.

The School of Architecture and Built Environment delivers programs, knowledge and technical skills focused on designing, planning, constructing, and managing the built environment sustainably. The School combines complementary disciplinary strengths in architecture and the built environment to education and research in partnership with industry to solve real-world problems. We advance sustainable development, technological innovation and apply human centred and critical perspectives to engage industry, government and communities in design and innovation in the built environment.

We research and teach collaboration and stakeholder engagement in professionally based contexts.
