Lecturer
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Seton Hall University invites applications for a full-time lecturer position beginning in Fall 2026. We are seeking an outstanding teacher with interest and demonstrated ability to teach, organize, manage and develop innovative curriculum in introductory undergraduate teaching labs and lectures, with a particular emphasis on broad general chemistry courses for all science majors, and be involved in service at the department, college, and university levels. Research with undergraduates is encouraged but not required.
The 17 full-time faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry have interests spanning the entire field and we value high-quality teaching, scholarship and service. We offer graduate (Ph.D., M.S.), accelerated B.S.-M.S., and several undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry programs, including an ACS-certified B.S. in chemistry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to organize, implement and supervise the general chemistry laboratories, which currently enroll about 400 students across 24 sections and 10-15 teaching assistants. Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with our laboratory manager and faculty colleagues to develop new innovative laboratory curriculum and teach introductory lecture courses if needed. Research in collaboration with faculty and undergraduate students is encouraged but not required.
Required Qualifications:
A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related discipline, with demonstrated interest and excellent ability in undergraduate teaching is required. Teaching experience beyond the PhD, especially in General Chemistry lectures and laboratories is a plus.
