Brief Summary of Work for this Position:

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applicants for up to two nine-month non-tenure track Lecturer in Spanish positions to begin August 2026.

Lecturer positions are renewable annually, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding. There may be an opportunity to contribute to summer teaching and/or lead study abroad programs for additional compensation.

Primary responsibilities will include teaching four courses per semester, primarily in a face-to-face format at the introductory and intermediate levels, as well as other courses based on departmental needs and the expertise of the selected candidate(s).

Additional responsibilities will include contributing to service within the department, university, community and/or profession, and advising and mentoring undergraduate students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Spanish or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish at time of application
• Experience in teaching Spanish as instructor of record at the college/university level
• Native or near native proficiency in Spanish and English

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Evidence of high-quality teaching effectiveness
• Evidence of knowledge of language pedagogy and its application through impactful teaching methods
