Lecturer (Teaching) in Medical Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The department is one of only a few broad-based anthropology departments in the UK comprising five sub-sections: Evolutionary and Environmental Anthropology, Social Anthropology, Material Culture, Medical Anthropology and Public Anthropology.
We are looking to appoint a full-time Lecturer (Teaching) in Medical Anthropology starting in December 2025 through to 30 September 2030. You will be responsible for preparing and delivering teaching materials, supervising and grading dissertations, and providing excellent academic support for students. You will collaborate closely with department members to ensure the teaching provision meets the students' requirements. For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Aaron Parkhurst. You will hold a PhD in Medical Anthropology or a closely related field, with demonstrable experience and proven ability in teaching the subject. Additionally, you will have experience in conducting ethnographic research, along with skills in marking academic work and providing constructive feedback at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Proven ability to conduct high-quality research, demonstrated through authorship of reputable publications or other research outputs in Medical Anthropology, is also required.
