The Johns Hopkins University School of Education invites applications for a Lecturer position in the Teaching Well Program, for an appointment starting on July 1, 2026.
The Johns Hopkins University School of Education invites applications for a full-time Lecturer who will also serve as Program Director for the Teaching Well (TW) Program. The Lecturer and Program Director reports to the Department Chair and is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and oversight for all aspects of the Teaching Well Program, including curriculum development, adjunct faculty management, accreditation activities, student recruitment and admissions, student support, partnership cultivation, assessment, budget oversight, and external engagement initiatives aligned with the mission of the School of Education and JHU. The position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, Baltimore City Public Schools, Enrollment Management Services, Student Affairs, Marketing and Communications, Academic Affairs, and external stakeholders to ensure program quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement. This position requires a collaborative and innovative leader with demonstrated expertise in teacher preparation, partnership development, graduate education, and program administration.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach eight (8) courses per year in the Teaching Well Program, with multiple course releases to account for director responsibilities.
- Supervise and advise students.
- Participate in professional service at the school, university, state, regional, and national levels.
This is a one year full-time, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Lecturer with an administrative assignment as Program Director. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position includes eligibility for university benefits in accordance with university policies.
Qualifications
- Earned master’s degree in education or a closely related field. Doctoral degree preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated experience in educator preparation, graduate education, or related academic leadership roles.
- Experience with curriculum development, accreditation, and program evaluation.
- Experience supervising faculty, staff, or academic teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with school systems, community organizations, or educational partners.
- Provide evidence of teaching excellence.
