Lecturers in Defence Studies Education
The Department of Defence Studies at King’s College London seeks to recruit two Lecturers in Defence Studies Education on the King’s Academic Education Pathway. These are fixed-term contracts, one for one year and one for two years, based at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom in Shrivenham, Wiltshire.
The role involves contributing to teaching and research in defence studies, with a focus on areas such as professional military and security education, disruptive technology and AI, Russian strategy, military operations, wargaming, military history, nuclear strategy, and applied military ethics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering teaching activities and developing modules for postgraduate students, including serving officers and civil servants.
- Undertaking high-quality scholarship and publishing in relevant journals.
- Participating in assessments, providing feedback, and engaging in professional development.
- Assuming administrative duties and contributing to the department’s profile.
Successful candidates must have a PhD in a relevant field, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to equality and diversity. Desirable criteria include teaching qualifications and experience in military education.
