The School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan invites applications for one or more Lecturer I position(s), commencing May 1, 2026. This Per-Term appointment period role will have an initial appointment of one Spring-Summer 2026 term, with the potential for renewal. The teaching effort for this position ranges from 12.5% for one lab section to 25% for two lab sections. Primary teaching responsibilities will be associated with teaching and course design for undergraduate students in Movement Science (MVS) and Applied Exercise Science (AES).

The School is seeking candidates with qualifications to successfully instruct one, up to two, lab sections of Human Musculoskeletal Anatomy (MVS 231). The selected candidate(s) will provide instruction so that after completing this course, students will be able to identify the major bones and landmarks, muscles and attachments, and ligaments in the human body. Students will also learn to recognize musculoskeletal structures on the surface of the human body as well as the movements associated with the muscles studied. The aim of this course is to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of human musculoskeletal anatomy and its relationship to body movement. Upon completing the course, all students will have a solid foundation in musculoskeletal anatomy to apply to their other courses or to their personal lives. Undergraduate students will be well prepared to understand musculoskeletal issues arising in their upper-division courses in biomechanics, motor control and development and exercise physiology.

Instructional duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide high-quality instruction.
• Create and contribute to the course syllabus and lesson plans.
• Produce relevant and reliable assessment tools and conduct routine assessments to evaluate student progress throughout the semester.
• Maintain student progress and attendance records and determine and enter grades for the course.
• Meet with students outside of class during office hours as needed.
• Attend and participate in program and school meetings as needed.

The successful candidate must have earned a master's degree (or equivalent professional degree) and have previous experience teaching at the collegiate level. Candidates should have previous experience instructing college-level anatomy lectures and/or labs. Proven success in contributing to a positive workplace culture, and the ability to consistently demonstrate our school's Core Values.

Preference will be given to applicants with terminal degrees (e.g., PhD or DPT or DOT) or who have advanced to candidacy for their doctoral degree with substantial dissertation research progress. Preference will also be given to applicants with past instructor-of-record experience, though teaching assistant experience will be considered.
