The Tutoring & Supplemental Instruction Services Center invites applications for a Professional Tutor ( STEM – Math/Science) to support student success in high-impact academic areas. This position plays a vital role in enhancing student learning, strengthening foundational knowledge, and promoting persistence and degree completion through targeted academic support.
The Professional Tutor will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in math and/or science disciplines, assisting students with course comprehension, assignment completion, and effective study strategies. In addition to academic support, the tutor will mentor students in developing critical skills such as time management, independent learning, and academic confidence. The role requires maintaining accurate documentation of tutoring sessions and collaborating with Center staff to ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery aligned with institutional standards.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary function of the Tutoring & Supplemental Instruction Services Center is to provide comprehensive academic support that enhances student learning, promotes academic success, and increases retention and degree completion. The Center delivers structured tutoring and supplemental instruction services designed to reinforce course content, improve study skills, and foster independent learning across a range of disciplines, with a strong emphasis on high-impact and historically challenging courses. Through one-on-one tutoring, group sessions, and skill-building workshops, the unit supports diverse student populations by creating inclusive and accessible learning environments. Additionally, the Center collaborates with faculty and campus partners to ensure alignment with academic standards and institutional goals, while maintaining accurate data and assessment practices to measure effectiveness and continuously improve services. Ultimately, the unit plays a critical role in advancing the University’s mission by strengthening academic performance, supporting student persistence, and contributing to overall institutional effectiveness.

- Prior tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience
