Applications are invited for the above Innovate UK funded post within the Buildings, Energy and Environment (BEE) Research Group ‘Zero Emission Power Generation Using Phase Change Material Thermal Battery (ZeroEPowerGen)’. The project aims to develop a sustainable power generation system for developing countries such as Nigeria. The ZeroEPowerGen project is designed to innovate in the field of renewable energy, specifically targeting the replacement of fossil fuel generators with a zero-emission alternative. This project is centred around the development of an advanced Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system, uniquely modified to utilise low-grade solar heat.

The candidate should have the necessary research experience in thermal modelling and experimental design and testing of energy storage and power generation systems. He/she needs to provide leadership and be able to drive the project forward.

The BEE Research Group has an international reputation for excellence across a wide range of topics including low carbon buildings, building retrofit, HVAC systems, energy storage and renewable energy. The Group has extensive research facilities including the Creative Energy Homes and state-of-the-art facilities for sustainable technologies.

Candidates must hold A degree in energy systems, building services engineering, mechanical engineering, building technology or chemical engineering. They should also have sound expertise in renewable energy, thermal modelling and experimentation in energy systems.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2025. Hours of work are part time (20 hours per week).

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
