Level B Postdoc Research Fellow (Computational HASS)
Classification: Academic Level B
Salary package: $118,632 to $134,507 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full-time, Fixed term (24 months)
Position Description and Selection Criteria: PD_HDRH_Level B Postdoc Research Fellow (Computational HASS)
- Build from the Ground Up: Work closely with the Director and HASS Digital Research Hub (HDRH) team to understand current and future demand for computational methods across the HASS community.
- Applied Research: Develop your own applied research agenda using the HDRH and ANU HASS community as your proving ground.
- Future-Focused: Explore emerging technologies and understand how they can support high quality, ethical, transparent, and reproducible HASS research.
- Sustainability: Work with the HDRH RSE team to define the supporting infrastructure and tools necessary to support sustainable digital research.
- Diverse Work: Work with colleagues across the HASS spectrum, while focussing on your chosen area of expertise.
- International Impact: Gain an insight into international best practices in computationally intensive research, and work with HDRH and HASS colleagues to implement them.
- Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide expert advice to academic colleagues, fostering a collaborative and research-focused environment.
- Innovation: Help drive the advancement of national research infrastructure and digital methods.
Position overview
We are interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of a broad range of computational methods including but not limited to: machine learning / AI, spatial computing, computational creativity, text encoding, social media analysis, corpus linguistics, statistical analysis, web development. Confidence with at least one programming language is essential. The successful candidate will:
- Build their technical capability in one or more methods, partnering with academic colleagues to produce internationally leading computational research.
- Collaborate with the Director and HDRH team to identify and implement cutting-edge frameworks and practices to support internationally leading computational research in the HDRH.
- Engage with stakeholders to drive innovation in computational methods, sustainable engineering, and research data management (RDM).
- Contribute to the Hub’s training and skills development initiatives, empowering researchers to effectively utilize computational tools and methods.
- Produce high-quality research outputs including computer code, digital products, workflows, design processes, and journal articles.
- Ensure that Indigenous perspectives are integrated into the Hub’s practices and methodologies.
- Contribute to the shaping of the Hub’s culture and values, ensuring alignment with ethical standards and inclusivity.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of six Colleges at ANU.
