Salary package: $118,632 to $134,507 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Position Description and Selection Criteria: PD_HDRH_Level B Postdoc Research Fellow (Values-based Digital HASS)
- Shape the future of digital research: Work closely with the Director and HASS Digital Research Hub (HDRH) team to define the culture, values, and ethics of the Hub at a crucial point in its development.
- Applied Research: Develop your own research agenda using the HDRH and ANU HASS community as your proving ground.
- Future-Focused: Explore emerging technologies and design methods and understand how they can support high quality HASS research.
- Advocacy: Provide a voice for HASS colleagues of all disciplines in shaping the HDRH, and ensure Indigenous and environmental values are foregrounded.
- Diverse Work: Work with colleagues across the HASS spectrum, while focussing on your chosen area of expertise.
- International Impact: Gain an insight into international best practices in responsible design and engineering, and work with HDRH and HASS colleagues to implement them.
- Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide expert advice to academic colleagues, fostering a collaborative and research-focused environment.
- Innovation: Help drive the advancement of national research infrastructure and digital methods.
Position overview
We are seeking a candidate who is deeply motivated by HASS research and enjoys applied work that directly impacts socio-technical/digital infrastructure and research culture. Candidates with experience in interdisciplinary research, values-based design, psychology, digital ethnography, and/or a strong understanding of the digital humanities or social sciences landscape are highly encouraged to apply. Previous experience with Indigenous perspectives in technology or research software engineering (RSE) will be an advantage.
The successful applicant will undertake research related to digital HASS and technology startup culture, using the HDRH and our community as your central case study. You will produce high-quality research outputs oriented to your research interests, including academic articles, white papers, and best practice guidelines in areas such as:
- Digital Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).
- Digital Galleries Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM).
- Indigenous technology design and infrastructure studies.
- Values-based design, responsible design, and sustainability.
- Research Software Engineering (RSE).
- Science and Technology Studies (STS) and digital ethnography.
- Digital skills development.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of scholars, engineers, GLAM sector colleagues, and technologists, both locally and internationally. The research you conduct will not only contribute to the growing body of knowledge in digital HASS and RSE but will also shape how digital research services are delivered through the HDRH, ensuring alignment with ethical standards and inclusivity.
The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of six Colleges at ANU.
