Level C Academic in the Discipline of Medicine (Endocrinology and Metabolism)
Level C $140,127 to $161,145 (pro rata) plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation & clinical loading applies.
Fixed term contract February-July 2026 @ 0.2 FTE
The Adelaide Medical School provides an innovative and collaborative research and teaching environment. We are seeking to appoint a level C Academic in the Discipline of Medicine, working cooperatively with the Endocrinology and Metabolism unit, Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH), Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN). The position will initially be for a 17-month period at 0.2 FTE with the opportunity to extend.
The successful candidate will primarily be based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH), contributing to the care of adults with inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) and provide leadership in teaching and research for the Adelaide Medical School.
The appointee will report to the Medicine Discipline Lead, Adelaide Medical School, as the nominees of the Dean of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences in respect of teaching and research related activities and the key responsibilities for the University of Adelaide (outlined below), and to the Head of the Endocrinology and Metabolism unit, as the nominee of the CEO, CALHN in respect of clinical duties and the key responsibilities for CALHN (outlined below).
Key responsibilities for The University of Adelaide will broadly include:
- Provide leadership in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching and evaluation in Endocrine and Metabolism.
- Continuous improvement in student evaluations of learning and teaching at CALHN
- Evidence of innovation in learning and teaching
- Provide supervision and teaching of medical students on clinical placement with RAH Endocrine & Metabolic Unit (including wards rounds, outpatient clinics and informal tutorials).
- Involvement, as feasible, in research into inborn errors of metabolism and improvements in the management of these conditions
- Assist the Dean of Medicine, as required with Meeting faculty and University targets as defined by the strategic plan
- Facilitating productivity and professional development of staff in the Adelaide Medical School
Key responsibilities for the Central Adelaide Local Health Network under these broad responsibilities shall include:
Clinical Delivery
- Care of adults with inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) at the Royal Adelaide Hospital
- Outpatient sessions held at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital
- Participation in on call roster for the metabolic service
- Clinical administration
To be successful you will need:
- Registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA
- To be a Fellow of the Australasian College of Physicians
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of medical students, including international students.
- Training and experience in the management of patients with IEM
- Evidence of successful administration experience and leadership
*This position requires a valid Working with Children and National Police Check.
