"Librarian (Tenure-Track)"

The University Library seeks a user-centred, innovative, team-oriented Librarian for a tenure-track position, to start January 1, 2026 (or as early as November 1, 2025). Reporting to the University Librarian and working collaboratively with colleagues, the successful candidate will manage and operate the University Archives and perform subject liaison activities.

In the University Archives, responsibilities include:

• Playing a primary role in strategic and operational planning of archival workflows for both physical and digital archives
• Supervising technical staff working in the Archives
• Providing reference support to users of the Archives
• Working collaboratively with other units, including Records Management, to develop and maintain records management and preservation policies

Subject liaison work includes managing subject collections and funds, maintaining communication with departmental representatives, providing reference service, and delivering information literacy instruction. The candidate is expected to work with the Dhillon School of Business; familiarity with relevant disciplines is an asset.

The position may involve committee work in areas such as collection development, scholarly communications, public services, assessment, and outreach, as well as coverage for other librarians. Professional librarians have academic staff status and must engage in research, service, and professional activities. Rank depends on qualifications and experience.

Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Required qualifications include:

Education/Experience:

• Master’s degree in Library Science (ALA accredited or equivalent)
• Demonstrated knowledge of archival best practices and standards (e.g., AtoM, Archivematica, RAD, EAD, Dublin Core)
• Understanding of the academic environment and trends in post-secondary education
• Ability to work as an effective liaison librarian
• Experience in supervising staff

Communication:

• Superior interpersonal, presentation, teaching, and communication skills
• Ability to establish effective working relationships

Team/Work Style:

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse teams
• Flexibility, innovation, and commitment to user-centred services
