What you will do:
- Providing nursing care to stable patients according to hospital protocols and clinician orders.
- Phlebotomy and intravenous and urinary catheter placement.
- Administer medication accurately at the correct dilution and rate and via the correct route.
- Monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia and following surgical or diagnostic procedures.
- Proper use of various monitoring equipment such as pulse oximetry, ECG, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors.
- Advising, guiding and supporting DVM students throughout your shift.
- Continue to develop basic and advanced clinical skills.

The Cornell University Companion Animal Hospital provides round- the-clock care for small animals 365 days of the year. Our LVTs provide exceptional patient experiences during:
- Daytime
- Evenings (includes shift differential pay)
- Nights (includes shift differential pay)
- Weekends
- Holidays (includes generous holiday pay)
Current open technician schedules will include evening, overnight, weekend and holiday shifts.
What are the qualifications?
- Associate degrees from an AVMA accredited institution, expected to obtain NYS licensure within 3 months; up to 1 year relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- New graduates are encouraged to apply.
