Lifeguard
The role
The University of Bristol is seeking qualified and motivated Lifeguards to join our team and support the safe operation of our busy indoor swimming pool.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced leisure professionals who are passionate about delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for our community. You will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and customer experience, while upholding the University’s values and behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising the swimming pool to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all users
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the poolside, changing rooms, and entrance areas
- Providing professional and friendly support at the welcome des
- Contributing to an effective pool rota to ensure consistent and safe operations
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Fully qualified lifeguards (NPLQ or equivalent)
- Customer-focused with a positive, proactive, and problem-solving approach
- Strong team players with excellent communication skills
- Committed to delivering a safe, inclusive, and high-quality experience for all users
These roles are essential in maintaining a safe and effective swimming pool operation.

Vacant Hours:
Full time – 35 hours
- Sunday – 14:00 – 21:00
- Monday – 14:30 – 22:30
- Tuesday 15:00 – 23:00
- Wednesday 15:30 – 22:00
- Thursday 15:00 – 22:30
Shifts over 6 hours receive a 30 min unpaid break
Part time
- Sunday 11:00 – 14:00
- Saturday 12:00 – 16:30
What will you be doing?
Responsibilities include customer supervision, cleaning of changing rooms and other areas, setting up and down sports equipment, and working from the Welcome Desk.
