The Opportunity

As Limited Submissions Manager/Research Development Specialist, you will manage Cornell's Limited Submissions Program and provide proposal and programmatic support as part of Cornell University's central Research Development (ReD) team.

Your duties in this position will include:

  • Administering Cornell's Limited Submissions program, overseeing internal competitions through application intake, review coordination, and final submission coordination
  • Coordinating review schedules and meetings for the Research Advisory Committee and other review panels
  • Tracking success metrics and preparing reports for the Dean of Faculty and other leaders
  • Serving as faculty and institutional resource on competition process, policies, and funder guidelines; liaising with Weill Cornell Medicine on joint competitions and reviews
  • Meeting with faculty in concierge or consultation discussions to understand their research interests and funding needs
  • Managing ReD funding digests and disseminating funding opportunities to campus
  • Coordinating proposal development activities
  • Contributing to the development of new ReD Team programs and resources
  • Tracking key performance indicators to measure activity, progress and performance of ReD activities and services

When evaluating your candidacy, we will look for evidence of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with research administration and/or research development
  • Excellent skills in project management, data analytics and visualization, and document production
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong personal initiative, service orientation, and willingness to perform tasks that range from strategic to detail-oriented
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines and solve problems under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret regulations and policies

Additionally, although not required, the following could be helpful:

  • Master's degree
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary research organization, preferably an academic environment
  • Knowledge of and experience with academic funding
