Position Profile: The School of Physical Therapy (SPT) at Western University invites applications for a Limited-Term faculty appointment to contribute to teaching and program development across the Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) and Advanced Health Care Practice (AHCP) programs, with particular emphasis in the Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM) Field. The appointment will begin July 1, 2026 (or as negotiated) as a two-year, renewable Limited-Term position at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, with salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Academic Expectations: The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and curriculum development across the MPT and AHCP programs, particularly within the SEM Field. Responsibilities include designing and delivering lectures, seminars, and laboratory-based instruction that integrate advanced clinical reasoning, applied clinical skills, and evidence-informed practice. This is a teaching focused appointment with workload assigned accordingly.
A central component of this role involves leading and supporting experiential and distance-learning opportunities that bridge academic learning with real-world clinical environments. The candidate will contribute to the design, delivery, and assessment of advanced professional competencies within an interprofessional healthcare curriculum and support learners from diverse professional and academic backgrounds enrolled in the AHCP-SEM program. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of musculoskeletal content in the MPT program, which is taught using a case-based educational model.
The position also includes service contributions that support the School of Physical Therapy, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Western University. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to advancing the School’s research objectives and contributing to a collaborative and scholarly academic environment.

Qualifications or Experience and Skills Required:
The ideal candidate will –
1. Hold an entry-to-practice physiotherapy degree;
2. Be registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario upon commencement of the appointment;
3. Have completed a master’s or doctoral degree in a related field;
4. Be a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists (CAMPT),
5. Have extensive experience in clinical environments, including sporting events, caring for patients with musculoskeletal conditions and managing sports-related injuries; experience in an advanced practice role and/or working clinically in an inter-professional team-based setting will be considered an asset;
6. Have excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior roles,
7. Have experience in program and curriculum development;
8. Have experience developing and delivering university-level courses across diverse learning environments and demonstrated ability to incorporate student-centred pedagogical approaches that support learners at both entry-to-practice and advanced practice levels.
Candidates must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and show evidence of contributing to equity, diversity, and inclusion within academic or professional settings.
