Makerspace Facilitator
Job Summary
The Maker Space Facilitator supports entrepreneurship by helping students, faculty, and community users turn ideas into functional prototypes while promoting safe, effective use of fabrication tools and processes. The role blends hands-on prototyping, makerspace operations, and instructional support, including training users in 3D modeling, fabrication methods, and small-scale manufacturing techniques. This position also contributes to workforce development, student skill-building, and community engagement through workshops, program support, and continuous improvement of makerspace services and processes.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
PROTOTYPING AND FABRICATION: Assist users in converting their conceptual issues into tangible prototypes. Responsible for production management, including identifying opportunities and implementing solutions for continual improvement of new manufacturing processes. Provide guidance and expertise on 3D modeling techniques and software. Maintains detailed documentation of testing results and catalogs all interactions. Assisting with the daily operations of the Makerspace including upholding the makerspace safety procedures. Requires trade or craft skills working with a variety of unique materials including material selection and procurement, manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly of designs.
INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING: Develop and identify relevant community workshops focusing on various technologies, software, and techniques. Develop programmatic instruction tailored to different skill levels and project objectives. Solve creative challenges with students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders to provide design services for production. Assist with the development and implementation of programmatic activities to include but are not limited to STEM, rapid prototyping events, interactivity, 3D modeling for 3D printing, and mold making for small manufacturing. Assist with identifying qualified speakers to keep abreast of trends to improve capabilities.
COMPLIANCE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDARDS: Analyses and engages in outgoing improvements of departmental and process goals. Must manage multiple tasks, priorities and quickly adapt to changing situations.
OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field with one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred experience with 3D printers, mold making. Preferred strong initiative to complete tasks.

KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
General experience and knowledge of innovation, prototyping and creative problem-solving skills
SKILLS
Detail-oriented
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B11
Salary: Minimum $56,600/annually - Midpoint: $59,720/annually
Salary to be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.

Conditions of Employment
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
